Rooted Regulation
OT-informed tools for calmer routines, outdoor play, and nervous system regulation
The Rooted Lens
Children build regulation through the body first. Before a child can consistently use words, focus, sit, listen, sleep, eat , or move through the daily routines with ease, their body needs enough support, connection, and sensory input to feel safe and organized.Rooted Regulation begins with occupational therapy principles: movement, sensory processing, caregiver co-regulation, routines, play, participation, and the child's real environment. From there, some resources also include GAPS-informed nourishment ideas and reflex-informed movement prompts as supportive educational tools. This is not about doing everything perfectly. It is about learning what your child's body may be communicating and having a few grounded tools to try at home.
Rooted Regulation is for families navigating:• Big toddler feelings and meltdowns
• Daily Transitions that turn into power struggles
• Bedtime, meals, mornings, and after-daycare crashes
• Sensory seeking, sensory sensitivity, and body-based regulation needs
• Constipation, withholding, irregular digestion, or mealtime stress
• Outdoor play ideas that support movement, connection, and regulation
• Foundational developmental patterns like crawling, climbing, pushing, pulling, balancing, and body awareness. In clinical terms: vestibular, proprioception and interception tools. You do not need a perfect routine, a perfect diet, or a perfect child. You need practical tools that help you understand what your child's body may be asking for and how to respond with more confidence.Rooted Regulation offers online guides and printable resources for parents who want support without overwhelm.
